gestalt assignment

For your enjoyment today…are thumbnail sketches! And lots of ‘em.

Continuation: implications through graphic form that leads the eye in an intended direction (to infinity and beyyyond)

Proximity: closer vicinity of graphic forms creates the implication of a unit.

Similarity: groups are formed by similarities in visual appearance.

Closure: The unconscious urge to complete a form or thought that is unfinished.

These are my photo sketches for our Color Harmonies Project, observing combinations of complementary, split complementary, triad, tetrad, analogous, and accented analogous colors. I wanted my exploration to venture through color theory with a soft pastel color pallet. And I would just like to give out a thanks to my Great-Grandmother for her exquisite taste in jewelry and to my trusty mannequin for giving me an extra hand. Those two made these pictures possible.

To be continued.

Portfolio Piece

Here’s just a little something that I already had in my back pocket. With this piece of work I attempted to emphasize the confinements that a picture frame creates, but then at the same time, demonstrate communication between the separate frames. Contradiction? Maybe.
